Since the launch of the brand, buckles have been an integral part of the watch design process. A buckle not only needs to function well, but it also needs to blend in as well as enhance the visual aspects of the watches. The first buckle that was released was the Pre-V #01. These were done as the first military range of watches released paid homage to vintage italian military and diving watches. They were also readily available and did not require any molding costs.
Slowly but surely, these were inadequate in representing the brand’s ideals. Flush Type #01 was subsequently released with the Diver range. It featured the simple rounded rectangle motif of the cases, as well as the protruding lug shape. Although when not worn, they appear large, but the design allows for the buckles to sit flush with the strap making them more wearable. They were intentionally large to match the sizes of the watches and 24mm straps. Flush Type #02 is our latest tang buckle offering and takes what we have learn from Type #01 and refines it. The buckle is reduced in width to fit onto the strap and creates a seamless transition with the straps. A ‘V’ logo is cut through the buckle to show the material below creating an illusion of connection with the strap below.
Type #03 is a tang buckle but has the appearance of a deployant. The idea being that it attaches to the strap with a pin (much like some waist belts), eliminating the appearance of the ‘tongue’ of a tang buckle. This gives a flatter and flush appearance compared to the Type #02.
Deployant Type #01 was released together with the Diver range as well. They were done originally for the rubber straps but due to their popularity a new design was created to suit leather straps as well. They are connected to leather straps via a set of screws. Diver Type #01 is a new diver style buckle but is compatible with our new bracelets as well as rubber straps. It features a diver’s suit extension and is suitably proportioned for smaller wrists white maintaining it’s 24mm strap suitability.
Diver Type #02 is a true diver’s buckle with a diver’s wet suit extension built in. The extension releases via the second set of buttons on the side of the buckle. It is also micro adjustable via the small spring bar holes on the side.
